Debora is a retired professional forester who is running for City Council on October 15th . She ran in 2018 and found the process to be highly rewarding and is still concerned about many of the same issues such as climate, housing and agriculture.

Debora is an avid community volunteer and is currently active with the following groups:

  • Fraser Valley Watershed Coalition (director)

  • Chilliwack Parks Society

  • Chilliwack Parks and Trails Committee

  • Gwynne Vaughan Park Society (secretary)

  • Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve Society (director)

  • Chilliwack Museum and Historical Society

  • Chea View United Church, Futures Team ** (chair)

    ** Futures Team is charged with the redevelopment of the Spadina site (formerly Chilliwack United Church) for affordable housing in partnership with Mamele’awt Queesome Housing Society and BC Housing. She also leads the renovation of the Quarry site (formerly Mt Shannon United Church), serves on the Property Team and is a church Trustee.

Debora believes strongly in the importance of education and is an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She recently obtained a Bachelor of Integrated Studies at the University of the Fraser Valley with a Wetland Conservation theme. 
Debora, with her husband Bill, raised three sons and now enjoys spending time with four grandchildren. She loves hiking, kayaking and gardening. She always enjoys sharing nature with her community and can be found leading interpretive walks around the City.
